Choir Practice
Our rehearsals are held on Thursdays at the Methodist Church. We start at 7.15 with a chat and a catch up. This is also the time when any administrative tasks are carried out and new music shared. We begin our practice at 7.30 prompt and work until 9pm.
We meet weekly throughout the year with short breaks at Christmas, Easter and Summer.
We have sheet music to help us but you don’t have to be able to read music and, outside of normal rehearsal times, we practise individually (or sometimes in small groups) with audio recordings on the internet or on CD to help us to learn our parts.
“I always believed I couldn’t sing but now I’m actually doing it and I love it - it’s brilliant!” (Choir member)
Our rehearsals are fun! They can be noisy, really hard work and are often experimental - sometimes we walk around for example! Our warm ups can be boisterous and surprising, breaking down inhibitions - practice sessions are never dull!! Who knew that blowing raspberries could improve your singing?!
