Our Music
At Songbirds we sing songs from a wide range of sources which include classical, folk and popular music both modern and more traditional. We aim to have fun while we practise and perform. We welcome all-comers.
“Singing - we have so much fun and it’s good for our health as well!” (Choir member)
Choir members are encouraged to offer suggestions and put forward their ideas of what songs to sing although the final decisions on performance set lists rest with the musical director Faye Deane, accompanist Jane Holyland and Songbirds committee members.
The choir is made up of three sections and usually we sing in three part harmonies - first soprano, second soprano and alto - however, we are flexible in our approach and sing in unison and in up to 5 parts at times.
Members of Songbirds do not have to be able to sight read and there are no auditions to deal with! Our continually improving sound comes from the hard work and dedication of choir members working closely with, and very ably supported by, Faye and Jane.
